An indigenous grinding machine that has been developed by IIT Madras is reportedly expected to reduce the cost of stents and artificial heart valves. The next-gen cylindrical grinder, that can manufacture products that are 0.005 the thickness of a human hair was inaugurated on Friday at the IIT-M campus. The institute had been working on such technologies, but this is the first time they have succeeded to come up with a machine of this precision.
