Police on Tuesday reportedly said a 65-year-old man of Anaikarai near Thanjavur was killed by a crocodile on Monday while he was taking a bath at Kollidam river in the district. The crocodile pounced on him all of a sudden and dragged him deep into the water, say reports. On hearing his cries, fishermen in the vicinity tried to rescue Sellakannu, but in vain. Later, his body with injuries on the neck was fished out.
