Magnitude 6.1 quake hits off Ecuador coast

The United States Geological Survey reportedly said an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck just off the coast of central Ecuador on Friday. It said the quake's epicentre was 54 miles (87 km) north-west of Portoviejo at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles (10 km) below the Pacific seabed.
