Kumar Sangakkara announces retirement from first-class cricket

Retired Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara on Monday announced that he would retire from first-class cricket at the end of this county season. Sangakkara who plays for English county Surrey, said,  "It's the last time I'll play a four-day game at Lord's. I'll be 40 in a few months; this is about the end of my time in county cricket. Cricketers, or any sort of sportsperson, have an expiry date and you need to walk away.” Notably, 39-year-old Sangakkara retired from ODI and Test cricket in 2015.
