India's first transgender Lok Adalat judge, Joyita Mondal was appointed as a judge in Islampur Lok Adalat in July. She has allegedly said that there are many transgenders, who can do a lot if given a chance. According to media reports, she had been working for transgender rights since 2010, and the government viewed her as a social worker and not as transgender.
