Delhi: Man beaten up for speaking fluent English

Police on Monday reportedly said, a group of five men, who were inebriated, allegedly thrashed a 22-year-old man for speaking with his friend in fluent English while dropping him off at a five-star hotel in Lutyens’ Delhi. Police have reportedly arrested three people in this connection. The incident happened when the man, Varun Gulati, a resident of Noida, was walking back to the hotel after seeing off a friend. The men rounded him up, and asked why he was speaking in English, police reportedly said. Reportedly, an argument broke out and the men assaulted Gulati.
