According to a report by Livemint, the BJP and its allies rule as many as 18 states, which constitutes to nearly 68% of the country’s population. In comparison, 18 states governed by the Congress and its allies in 1993 made up only 45% of the population then. Further, the BJP-ruled states sent around 66% lawmakers to Lok Sabha in 2014 as against 48% sent by Congress-ruled states in 1991.
