All India Bank Employees Association’s general secretary C H Venkatachalam has reportedly said that the association has called for a nation-wide strike on August 22 to press various demands. The association, which represents nine bank unions and employees of public and private sector banks, will protest against privatisation and merger of public sector banks. Nearly 10 lakh employees will also protest against declaring wilful default of bank loans as criminal offence, implementation of the recommendations of Parliamentary Committee on recovery of NPAs, among other demands.
