Club ousts woman for wearing traditional attire

Tailin Lyngdoh, a 51-year-old woman from Meghalaya, was reportedly asked to leave the Delhi Golf Club because of her attire. Notably, Lyngdoh was wearing her traditional Khasi attire 'jainsem'. Lyngdoh was invited to the club by Dr Nivedita Barthakur, an honorary advisor to Assam government. Following the incident, Barthakur tweeted that this is "an example of North Indian bigotry, chauvinism and ignorance". The tweet has gone viral.
