According to reports, Aerion Corporation chairman and billionaire Robert Bass is has negotiated with engine makers General Electric, which works with Airbus and Boeing, to build a private supersonic jet that can fly faster than the speed of sound. Bass-led Aircraft manufacturing startup Aerion envisions a plane capable of flying at a top speed of Mach 1.5 over water while staying under the sound barrier to avoid sonic booms.
