As many as 19 international and domestic flights to and from Chennai were reportedly delayed on Friday, following a dense smoke engulfed the area around the airport on account of old articles were burnt on the occasion of Bhogi. Notably, Old and unwanted articles of the past year are burnt as a symbolic gesture during Bhogi, which is celebrated on the first day of Pongal. Meanwhile, most parts of the city including key areas such as Anna Salai, GST Road, Jawaharlal Nehru Road were covered with dense smoke triggered by Bhogi rituals.
