MI vs CSK Match preview

Match: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings
Venue: Mumbai

Buildup
The Mumbai Indians have won 1 out of the three games played so far. They still haven’t looked at their best as Punjab and Delhi won comfortably over them. Bangalore was a game that went to wire and could have gone either ways. Hence they will be looking to get a good dominating performance. The Chennai Super Kings have had a great start to the IPL winning all the three games. However, the three games they have played were on slower pitches and Mumbai is expected to be their first match on an absolutely flat pitch with small boundaries. Hence, their bowling attack will really be tested and will be interesting to see how they cope up without have a genuine pace bowler.

Head to Head
Out of the 26 matches played between the two teams, the Mumbai Indians have had a slight advantage with 14 wins under their belt.
At Mumbai, they have played 11 matches out of which the Mumbai Indians have won 6.

Player Pick
Rohit Sharma, for the Mumbai Indians has looked good with the bat opening the innings and has got good starts. So far he has not managed to convert the starts he has got and will be looking to get a big score in this important game.

Suresh Raina, for the Chennai Super Kings has had a similar season to Rohit Sharma, getting good starts and he will be looking to convert these starts into a match winning innings.

Possible Playing XI
The Mumbai Indians might be tempted to get Ben Cutting for Pollard as he can provide the extra bowling option apart from his hitting ability towards the end of an innings. With Jason Behrendorff coming back, they might look at bringing him in for Mitchell McClenaghan

MI (Possible):  1 Rohit Sharma (c), 2 Quinton de Kock (wk, 3 Suryakumar Yadav, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Kieron Pollard/Ben Cutting, 6 Hardik Pandya, 7 Krunal Pandya, 8 Mitchell McClenaghan/Jason Behrendorff, 9 Mayank Markande, 10 Jasprit Bumrah, 11 Lasith Malinga

The Chennai Super Kings, might replace Mitchell Santner with Harbhajan Singh which is where he played most of him IPL career.

CSK (Possibe):  1 Shane Watson, 2 Ambati Rayudu, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 MS Dhoni (c,wk), 5 Kedar Jadhav, 6 Dwayne Bravo, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Deepak Chahar, 9 Shardul Thakur, 10 Harbhajan Singh, 11 Imran Tahir

Pitch Expectation
The Pitch at Mumbai is expected to be very good for batting as we saw in the game against the Delhi Capitals.
Par Score: 175
Safe Score: 190+

Prediction
These are two of the top teams going against each other and the match could go either way. But, the Chennai Super Kings will have a slight advantage with the kind of form they are in. They look like they know how to win a match from any stage and hence will be a very difficult team to win.

Contest to watch out for
MS Dhoni vs Bumrah will be a good contest to watch out for since both of them are specialists in the death overs. MS Dhoni is one of the best finishers going around and can strike it really big in the death overs. Bumrah on the other hand is one of the best death overs bowlers going around and has been very difficult to score of him towards the end of an innings.
