I am writing this immediately after watching the movie Nandalala....

Some movies get made and some movies happen just like how life happens, some movies get made with the idea of what we like it to be and some movies are what it is just like life and Nandalala is one such movie which happens and it is what it is. This movie is all about that unexplainable emotion for no better word in English to explain what this movie is about I choose to use the Tamil word's "Anbu, paasam" This movie is all about that.

Nandalala is so truthful and has life in it which is what every art form tries to achieve. This movie leaves you with an experience which is so intense, you sometimes feel tempted to bring in this movie into your minds realm of subjectiveness like it does with all the happenings in life to avoid truth and for this alone I am right now tempted to
nandalala
say Mysskin is the kind of director Tamil movie industry has been waiting for so long, when talking about truthfulness I am reminded of the words by Confucius, he said that "superior men know what is "right" and the inferior men know what sells"

Well I am sure that this film is a very very important milestone in the history of Tamil cinema, if you think I am over exaggerating let me tell you one particular scene which bowled me over...this movie expresses things without even expressing it....

Ok the scene goes like this, Akilesh is watching a program on TV which is about motherly love and affection, it makes him so engraved in that that even when his grandmother switches the TV off he goes and fetches the remote from her and switches the TV on again and gets so immersed in it, one can feel the real yearning in him for his mother ....just then the camera zooms in on the TV and damn the noise of the TV getting smashed ....and you see this amazing actor Mysskin walking out of the hall where he has just now smashed the TV because the program was about motherly love .... and he goes out saying to the staffs of that asylum that "Radio pettiya yaro odachitaanga " ... what can one say about this amazing scene which captures the two extreme emotions of the characters...one has extreme love for his mom and for this reason he wants to see her but the other hates his mom to the extent that he breaks a TV just for it showing a program on motherly love...there are many scenes like this in the movie which are very subtle ......

Here is another scene which I enjoyed....

After the boy loses his money to a thug, Mysskin and Akilesh are shown sitting on a pavement wondering what to do next...just then Mysskin gets hysterical and snatches the powder pack which has coins in it from the little boy, but the little boy handles him in a smooth way and gets back the money from him.... the scene is cut to the bus stand where both are shown sitting, the boy observes the way Mysskin is wearing his shoes wrongly and confirms that this is a mad man so he excuses himself from Mysskin ..Boy, what a subtle way to show that the boy knows more than what he seems to know......and in the climax when the boy shouts at Mysskin "Poda mental " to make Mysskin angry, this makes Mysskin so hysterical but he controls himself from hurting the boy, ...Boy, that scene was so so INTENSE, that’s called real acting ...just then the boy feels so sorry for how Mysskin suffers and comes down to him with tears rolling down his face and helps Mysskin with his shoes and puts it right ....

What subtleness !!!!!!!!! BRILLIANT

Go watch this movie in the theater if you want Tamil films to be among the leagues of what is now being hailed and will be hailed as world class movies !!!!!!!!!

My Rating 4.5/5
