It is very hard to believe that Kollywood is always proving to its courage and fortitude that sans big cast (hero, music director….) still the film can make marvels. Seriously speaking I was not expecting a lot from this team of Kalavani except Vimal who has proved himself to certain level in Pasanga. It really stands apart from other small time films in bringing the real essence of life in village.

I present in this column reasons why Kalavani must be watched.

The screenplay:

Although the film which doesn’t boast itself of good story which all the shoddy films does have in it, but the undisputed hero has been the screenplay by director. The fresh feel of story is being maintained till the end. The small incidents have been taken care and adhered into the film. Director has attempted to narrate the clash between two villages without any simulated insertions

Vimalraj (The hero):

Vimal has continued his good work from where he has left in Pasanga. The hero has taken care in his body language and dialogues so that it doesn’t remind us off the earlier offbeat village films. He has clearly shown the character of matured actor. The essence of comedy tracks was also well portrayed by Vimalraj (his way of asking money to
Saranya). He has illustrated his character only off his strengths rather than not trying off much hyped fights or dialects.

Characterization:

The director has chosen the best possible way to fit in the characters. Reality is stone of success. The new girl Oviya who has given the best shot has given lot of imperative facial expression. The mother character played by Saranya is well tailor made role which she has proved in many earlier films, (the dramas created by her to save the son’s skin) the father role played by Ilavarasu, the brother role played by Thirumurgan (the mannerism portrayed by him).at last but not the least one shouldn’t forget the comedy role played by Ganja Karuppu, without him the first half would have slackened.

Cinematography:

Camera showing the rural backdrop of Thanjavur has been encouraging which has changed the monotonous of Madurai. The picturesque of fertile lands has given a fresh feel to the whole play, the particular scene where Vimal tries absconding with Oviya over the bus has been worth watching.

Directors touch:

The director has well shaped the hero and has mobilized the script within the strength of hero which has been the body language & dialects. He has given importance to background score rather than shoddy songs, the sharp and to the point dialects have also been the stone of success. The director has also succeeded in inculcating the timing and light hearted comedy.(showing the position of house & family to his father friend) The film without usual sentiments, rugged fights, village politics and gimmicks for which director gets a huge applause in filming with a non-cinematic approach.

The film director Sargunam stands very tall among all directors in showing this 150 min of village story with perfect stamped authority of his own cinematic approach... He has given all urban dwellers a treat to watch this village love story, KALAVANI MANADHAI KALVADIYATHU; I truly take this opportunity of writing this to make people watch this wonderful film as soon as possible before it fades away from theatres.
