Ten years back, Kollywood was looking at one of the biggest rival match between 2 upcoming stars. It was considered the next big rivalry after Rajni and Kamal. That's right; it was between Vijay and Ajith or better known as Ilayathalapathy Vs Ultimate Star. But then in between came younger stars like Dhanush, Simbhu, Jeyam Ravi, Jiiva etc to steal the lime light. Even after 10 years, Suriya is now the current heart-throb of Kollywood.

But yet again, there were still a faithful group that were following Ultimate Star regardless of how many of his films didn’t receive much appreciation in box -office. Better known for his hard work, his roles were much appreciated though. On the other hand Thalapathy fans were expecting a lot after creating record of 7 hit films in a row (excluding Aadhi) after Pokkiri and that ended up with 6 consecutive failures.  Even at times Vijay fans were writing in asking him to choose his films and directors properly.

Post Asal saw Ajith denouncing his Ultimate Star title and post Sura saw Vijay turning into politics and signing up for a romantic comedy Kaavalan. Ajith now known as Thala among his fans, signed up Mankatha with Venkat Prabhu after much speculations.

A comedy scene in Boss Engira Baskaran, much to coincidence might have brought the 2 rival groups together: Thala-Thalapathy .There was even a scene where Thalapathy fans beat up Santhanam for naming his Saloon Thala-Thalapathy. And Ajith fans giving him a "double treat" for the same reason.

Early 2011 saw Vijay having a hard time to release his Kaavalan for Pongal due to political reasons/ theater being blocked by Sun Pictures etc etc etc. But then in an unexpected turn of events, Thala and Thalapathy fans join hands to support the release of Kaavalan. This I should say has never happened in the history of Kollywood.

Recently there were pictures of Vijay visiting Ajith at the sets of Mankatha presenting him with a watch and Ajith serving him "Thala" Briyani.

With Mankatha making headlines almost everyday since the start of shooting and Vijay having signing up Yohan: Athiyayam Ondru with Gautham Menon and Velayutham gearing up for a release anytime soon. Also in Vijay's kitty, there is an untitled film with AR Muragadoss and Nanban with Shankar tentatively releasing for Deepavali.

The audio and trailer was launched yesterday: The trailer definitely shows that Thala is back after an average outing in Asal. The songs are rocking and as a Thalapathy fan I am sure Thala is going to rock on screen. For the Thala fans, we Thalapathy fans will repay you guys the deed you did during Kaavalan's release.

I humbly request from now on, Thala and Thalapathy fans rejoice together as we support our idols in success.

2011 is definitely Thala-Thalapathy year and The King of Opening and The King of Collection are back to roar success again.
