• After the success of Azhagiye Thiyae, director Radha Mohan is back with Ponniyin Selvan – the name entitled in Tamil literature, but the film has nothing to do with literature.

• Ponni (Revathy) and her son Venu (Ravi Krishna) – so the name goes as Ponniyin Selvan. Being produced by A.M.Rathnam, the movie has got his son in the lead role and Gopika plays opposite to him.

• Venu is a kind of person, who has got lot of inferiority complex built up within him because of the scar present on his face and loses confidence in his life. He has little interest , as he can hardly face tough situations prevailing in his life.

• Then, he slowly gains up confidence by looking at the outside world, and the main inspiration for him is Guru (Prakash Raj). He learns a lot from him and instills confidence in his mind to fight and succeed.

• So, he starts earning money by doing various part-time jobs to remove the scar present on his face through a plastic surgery. He becomes a magpie and starts behaving strangely with friends and family.

• The rest of the story is what he realizes during this eventual process.

• For Ravi Krishna, this film is said to give a break after 7G Rainbow Colony. He believes that he has more scope to perform in this film. The director exclaims that it is a movie of a youth who runs from pillar to post to achieve his goal.

• Gopika, a busy actress in Kollywood, at present is very happy in performing this film, though it is a hero oriented subject.
