Women are climbing up the ladder of success
in every field and cinema is not an exception.
In what was considered a profession in which
ladies from ‘good’ families never
set foot, women have come to create their
own brand of popularity as actresses, dancers
and singers. Nevertheless, the technical aspects
of cinema remained the male preserve. So,
we had male cinematographers, sound engineers,
directors, music composers and so on. Not
any more. Professionally
trained
women are storming this niche in cinema also.
Why we even have a woman stunt choreographer?
Here we take a look at some women directors.
As a rule, they make films which appeal to women
and highlight their plight. They also bring
to the fore aspirations of the modern generation
of women who have their own set of needs. They
have been quite successful because of the strength
of the scripts and the treatment.
