Gillie as expected, released on April 17th. After the huge success of Thirumalai, Vijay has not let his fans down. The movie turns out to be a super fast express, gripping to the last minute. When it comes to pace, very few in the industry can match Dharani.

Vijay’s dance sequences are visual treats and Vidhya sagar’s songs, plays the perfect foil. His re-recording is top notch. Gopinath’s camera work is refreshing.

Vijay plays Velu, son of Assistant Commissioner of police, played by Ashish Vidhyarthi. Velu is a kabbadi player and on a trip to Madurai, sees Prakash Raj abducting Trisha. How Vijay outfoxes the villain and rescues the heroine forms the rest of the story. Vijay has given his best, putting in lot of hard work. Trisha as the village girl, is at ease. Prakash Raj as the mafia leader, disappoints.

Though the story is as old as the Ramayan, Dharani’s handling of the script has lifted the movie. Vijay’s fans cannot ask for more. “If my fans are happy, I am happy”, says Vijay. Why shouldn’t he be, the stars are smiling on him. But with the immense talent he has got, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if Vijay starts experimenting a bit more.

Verdict : Hit!!
