The current international sensation from India is doubtless Aishwarya Rai. Every section of the Western media seems to love her and not have enough of her. While she faces criticism and brickbats at home, she is winning awards and appreciation abroad. Recently, the Dutch honoured her by naming a variety of tulip after her. The famous toy-maker, Mattel, has designed an Indian version of Barbie to look like her in traditional Indian costumes. This range of Barbie in Gujarati, Punjabi and Rajasthani attire has been a big hit in Britain.
