She was dubbed the lady superstar. Her powerful performances in Vyjayanthi IPS and similar films made her an icon. She has acted in successful Tamil films with Rajini in Mannan and Kamal in Indran Chandran. She tried her hand at politics and became the secretary of the women’s wing of BJP in Andhra Pradesh. Somewhat disillusioned with the party, she started an organization for spearheading the movement for creation of Telangana state out of AP. Addressing a public rally recently, she is said to have promised that she will not cease until the Telangana dream comes true. She said that she would even lay down her life for the cause. The TDP which is the BJP’s ally in the state is upset about this and the party cadre have planned mass protest against release of her movies in theaters all over the state.
