Resolution - A poem

By Brayan dsouza

Every year begins with a resolution,
A resolution supposed to last;
But, as the days go by, I realize
It’s just a dead hand of the past.

I resolve never to resolve again,
Dwelling on experiences of the past;
But my fickle mind and nomadic thoughts,
Wouldn’t let me hold fast.

I resolved, this year, to understand,
To love and to care till the last,
But the one for whom I resolve,
I wish, can understand me, before it is last.

I pray to God, to help work it through,
Because in him I believe, and in my love, too,
Though, this resolution seems not to be going through,
I will stand firm, by my resolution and by you.
