He is the hero of the hour now. With his Rajnikanth starring Chandramukhi releasing after great hype and hoopla all across the state, P Vasu is a confident person now. 'Chandramukhi will not disappoint Rajnikanth's fans. It is a family entertainer sure to become a craze'.

An elated Vasu has achieved a milestone with Chandramukhi which is his 50th film a career spanning over 25 years. It is a rare fortune to direct an actor like Rajnikanth for my 50th movie'.

How was the entire experience of doing Chandramukhi?

Every time I see my films for the first time I get the feeling that I could have done much better. But this was not the feeling when I saw Chandramukhi for the first time. I had then the movie just as I wanted it... Rajini sir told me that ‘you have taken as you have told the script to me’. Now the film is running successfully in all countries.

Is there any connection between your previous 49 films and this 50th film?

All my films are my 1st film. What ever effort I had given for my 49 films, it’s the same effort in Chandramukhi. I give great importance to the storyline.

You have never worked with Kamal. Why?

When Sivaji productions did Kalaingyan and when AVM did Sethupathi IPS there was a talk of us working together. But somehow it never, materialized.

Has Rajini told you anything about his next project?

When Rajini was seeing the songs of Chandramukhi, I told him that, 'you should do at least 1 film every year’. He promised me he would work on it.

Is there a script ready if you are to work with Rajini again?

I already have 10 scripts with me ready. But it is he to decide whether to choose them or not.

Isn’t this a very happy year for you?

Really. when I’m turning 50 I’ve completed my 50th film. For that don’t think I did my 1st film when I was1 year old. Both my films Aapthamithre and Chandramukhi have done well. What more can I expect?Just like how Chandramukhi is running successfully everywhere, in the same way my kannada film Aapthamithre has crossed 225 days in 35 theatres and is still running. It seems never has a film ran so long in Bangalore’s Santhosh Theatre. I felt very happy on hearing this.
