In this age of sms and email, letters may seem outdated. Still there is a great charm attached to reading letters – especially love letters. Here we share with you the experiences of some leading movie figures on the love letters that they received.

Ever since my debut in Vaikasi porandhachu, I have been receiving fan mail especially from girls. Only then I was convinced of my charm. I receive mails from Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, England, Canada, Dubai and other parts of the world. 90% of the mail is of course love letters. I was really stunned by the acts of a few fans like sending a mangal sutra or a ring and requesting me to marry. One girl has in fact been writing to me for 15 years! When rumour spread that I was about to be married, some even tried to commit suicide. I request them not to indulge in such things.

Now I also receive fan mail through email. I read each and every mail and reply as well.

I was not a lover boy in college where I kept to myself. Ever since Boys I was flooded with fan mail for a few months. Then it stopped. Now it has got better with Kadhal and I receive hundreds of letters daily from school and college girls. Most of them are love letters, some are murky while others appreciate my looks and acting. As a policy, I don’t read dirty mail. A school girl from Dubai has even proposed marriage and said that she cannot think of anyone else as her life partner. She left her mobile number with the promise that she would come to Chennai right away. I am holding my breath.

The first love letter I received was from a fan in London. After Sami and Gilli I am bombarded with fan mail. A person wrote a letter based on the characters that I have played. Another has written a really l…o….n…g letter asking me to marry him. Some fans wrote that they will not marry anyone else.
