Mani Rathnam makes movies in a class of their own. He is credited with bringing a wave of freshness to the medium. Whether it is the narrative, dialogue or music, he has handled them deftly to give us memorable treats. He is responsible for bringing A.R. Rehman, Sujatha (the writer), Santhosh Sivan and many others to Tamil cinema. To add a new feather to his cap of achievements are his women associate directors. Leading the pack is Priya, who is venturing out on her own with Kanda naal mudhal. Another one, Sudha is working on the script of a yet-to-be-titled film. Hope the students do their master proud!
