  Movie Review : Sachein

Movie:         Sachein

Direction:    M.Johan

Cast:           Vijay, Genelia, Bipasha Basu, etc...

Music:          Devi Sri Prasad

Producer:     Kalaipuli S Dhanu

The young Turk of the industry who has a huge fan following and a series of hits under his belt has dished out Sachein for the Tamil New Year. Vijay looks best in roles, which require him to portray tenderness. He wins the competition thumbs down as the successful romantic hero of this generation of actors. So, Sachin produced by Kalaipuli S.Thanu, is a romance and gives a sense of déjà vu. It is a near rehash of Kushi.

Set in Ooty, the story revolves around Vijay and Genelia who study in the same college but do not know each other. On a rainy day, they come together and Cupid strikes both. Vijay declares his love but the lady spurns him to make him testy. Vijay wagers that he will turn the tide within a month. The lovers unite after a series of songs and fights.

The film’s main scoring point is the excellent cinematography. The camera has captured the beauty of the Nilgiris in its full majesty. A romantic film necessarily means several dream sequences and duets and the picturization has been very good.

Genelia as the rich, spoilt girl who treats everyone with disdain has done well. Her expressive eyes and emoting ability have been brought out nicely. Bipasha Basu, whose appearance in the film has been hyped up, has played the vamp and the item girl role to perfection. Her skimpy costume and sinuous gyrations will make hearts aflutter. It is a cakewalk for Vijay and his role has been etched out keeping his fans’ expectations in mind. His comedy track with Vadivelu, who is his collegemate, is quite run-of-mill. Sandhanam from Lollu Sabha has come ahead in this movie after Manmadhan. Also, there is an unnecessary insertion of a few fight scenes to portray the hero’s machismo. It does not fall in place in the overall mood of the film.
