Nayanthara is the latest in the list of newcomers. Her first film was in Malayalam-Manasinakarai directed by Sathyan, opposite Jayaram. The film was a superhit in Kerala. Her second film was Vismayathum Pathu with Mohan Lal. The film was directed by Fazil.

Another Mohan Lal- starrer Nattu Raja directed by Joshi followed. These made her popularity soar. Seeing her on the cover of ‘Vanitha’ a Malayalam magazine, she was offered several modeling assignments. Around this time she was offered a role by Hari in Ayya opposite Sarathkumar. She played the role of a docile village girl in the movie pining for the younger Sarathkumar. P.Vasu had strongly recommended her to be cast in Chandramukhi which she says is a watershed movie for her. On the fact that she has acted with heroes much older than her she says she has she is quite comfortable because her screen looks suit such roles. She is also willing to play glamour-girl if the story demands so.

She chooses films on the basis of story, good banner and good director. So she is all set to act in any language- Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam.

On gossip she feels saddened about the impact on the privacy of the artist but she feels that if one approaches every one with respect and humility such gossip will not arise.

On marriage plans, she feels that her parents Suriyan and Omana will let her decide on her own terms as she feels that love marriages are better and that it is God’s will to find the right partner.
